Maybe I'm biased, but I'm really loving the blends I've been coming up with. Sure there's a couple that were not good, but when I've relied on my intuition, it's lead me well. I open my case of oils and start experimenting, holding one bottle next to another and sniff, and if it doesn't work, I test it with another. And then when I settle on two, I go on to the third, and just swap out bottles until I land on something that just works. It really reminds me of playing with notes on a piano, combining them and coming up with a chord. The scents just harmonize.
Tonight I wanted to do something with Fennel. I had been eating Black Panda licorice, telling myself that I shouldn't eat too many, and then thought, "Oooh maybe if I make something with Fennel, it'll satisfy my sweet tooth." My next thought was adding mint of some kind. The reason being, a few weeks ago, I had blended Lemongrass with Peppermint and I was really surprised with the combo. It is something based off of recipe I found online, and I never would have thought of it on my own. Lemongrass and Peppermint, to me, feels like opposites that would clash rather than complement each other. Nevertheless, I gave it a try and I really like it.
So tonight I tried Fennel with Spearmint, Peppermint, and Birch, and landed on Peppermint. I wanted to add a base and experimented with Vetiver, Frankincense, and Copaiba, and I liked Copaiba the best.
Energetically, this blend is stimulating and supportive. Fennel (Foeniculum vulgare) is associated with self-expression, courage to tackle difficult conversations, and gentle support to finish what is undone. Peppermint (Mentha piperita), too encourages motivation, as well as self-confidence. Copaiba (Copaifera langsdorffii) is said to foster tranquility after conflict - Amazon warriors would rub Copaiba resin over their bodies after tribal conflicts. If you are worried about a difficult conversation, and need some extra TLC to get through it, I'd recommend diffusing this blend or adding a couple of drops onto your lava or wooden beaded necklace beforehand. Enjoy!
